lanolin is scientifically proven to be the oil closest to our skin's natural fat. it is semi-occlusive and semi-permeable, which means it allows the skin to self-hydrate from within, while also acting as a breathable skin barrier. it holds up to 400% of its weight in moisture, behaving as a moisture reservoir for your skin.
lanolin is also largely responsible for the wonderful texture of this lip balm. lanolin is a byproduct of sheep shearing and does no harm to the animals. the supplier for this specific lanolin is a small farm in Texas that knows every mellowly grazing sheep by name.sunflower lecithin is an outstanding emollient and occlusive that also contributes to the creaminess of this balm. its slow absorbtion rate helps the lip balm to stay protective and put on your lips rather than immediately soaking in. it is a byproduct from the sunflower oil production.
castor oil is a humectant, preventing water loss through the outer layer of the skin.
beeswax is a humectant as well, drawing water into your skin and forming a protective barrier around your lips. this beeswax is sourced from a Bowling Green farmer and is cruelty free. it is a naural byproduct of harvesting honey.
grapeseed oil softens the skin and improves your lips' elasticity. the antioxidants it contains can also help protecting the skin from UV damage. as a byproduct of the wine industry, this is another ingredient that has a very low negative environmental impact.
mango butter contains an abundance of vitamin C and E, defending your skin against environmental stressors. it is a byproduct of the fruit industry.
vitamin E promotes cell turnover and regeneration. it also delays the onset of rancidity of the other oils in the lip balm.
peppermint essential oil and menthol create the tingle in this lip balm.
argan oil improves the water retention of the skin, leading to moisturized lips.
